Weeks leading up to Koltyn's arrival, I followed Erika carefully on social media to keep up with how she was progressing. I would find myself literally laughing out loud at her post. You see, Erika's Dad Mike came into town on the day we all thought Koltyn was going to arrive. Koltyn decided however that he would come on his own time, and Mike only had that week to be in town because of having to travel back to work. With the pressure on, we all really wanted Mike to be here for the birth! Erika tried a little bit of everything to go into labor. When she put up a photo on Instagram of her and her son Kylar jumping on the bed together, she had me cracking up.
"I ate 5 pineapples, drank 4 ounces of caster oil, ate Taco Villa (drowning it in hot sauce), and I walked a total of 7 miles the week I had him. I was SO READY!!!"
Something that she did that week must have worked, because on April 19th, 2014, Koltyn decided it was time for him to meet his family.
They brought Kylar back to see his mommy before his little brother arrived. It wasn't too much longer after that, that it was time to start pushing. With her mom and dad by her side, Erika began preparing to meet sweet Koltyn face to face.
When Koltyn was delivered the entire hospital must have known! It is always a happy thing when baby comes out crying. There was no doubt that he had a healthy set of lungs! Out of all of the births I have been a part of, I've never heard a baby cry quite as loud as Koltyn and I must say, it was the sweetest most precious sound in the world.
The nurse got Koltyn all cleaned up and ready to meet his big brother Kylar and his daddy. The rest of the family were super excited to meet him as well! He weighed 7lbs, 11.8 oz and was 20 and 3/4 inches long.
Erika, Mike and Bridget-- I want to thank you for allowing me to be a part of Koltyn's Birth. Your family has quickly melted my heart, and I adore you guys! I am very honored and humbled to have documented this special time in your lives!
